James W. Reynolds, MD, Trustee
James Reynolds, a Guyanese by birth, was raised in Belladrum, West Coast Berbice and completed his primary education at St. Alban’s Anglican School and won a four-year scholarship I attend Victoria High School in New Amsterdam. He migrated to the USA January of 1968. Dr. Reynolds attended Howard University in Washington DC and in 1973 earned his BS, (magna cum laude) and a Masters in Organic Chemistry. In 1975 he attended the University of Pennsylvania Medical School where he obtained his MD degree in 1979. After serving with the US Public Health Service for two years and completing a brief stint in private practice he served in several medical directorship positions until retiring in 2013.
It was in September 2012 that Dr. Reynolds made his first trip to Guyana with the Guyana Medical Mission and have returned every year with the group since then. Since 2013 he has also made annual trips with the Probeldad group, providing pediatric primary care to the Belladrum residents. He has also devoted some of his efforts during those periods to providing some much needed resources to the Belladrum Primary School. Dr Reynolds says his goal is to dedicate as much of his time as possible to improve the health and educational standards in Belladrum.
